Attorney
Practice Summary
Charles is based in our Washington, D.C.-area office. He recently returned to private practice after serving as a clerk for the Honorable Judge Joseph Farnan, Jr., at the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. During his time there, Delaware saw more patent-related filings per judge than any other district court in the country. Judge Farnan's chambers, in particular, rendered numerous Markman opinions and conducted trials in several high-profile patent cases -- such as AU Optronics v. LG Philips LCD and CIF Licensing v. Agere Systems. Charles has also worked at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in the chambers of the Honorable Judge Arthur Gajarsa, handling patent and trademark appeals from all U.S. district courts and from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is an experienced counselor in IP analysis, patent prosecution and litigation matters, and his "behind the bench" courtroom experience adds unique value to the firm and our clients.
